Critical to Your Internet Marketing Strategy is Keyword Research

So you’ve built a website, invested in a new domain name registration, purchased your affordable web hosting and your ready to make your fortune online! Maybe it’s simpler then that. Maybe you have a business and you’d like to just get the web working for you as part of an overall marketing strategy encompassing the internet. Unfortunately most businesses who try to overcome the challenge of successful internet marketing, often fail for one of many reasons but the top three we hear are:

1- Jump in with two feet with a magic bullet formula (there isno magic bullet) from an internet guru you’ve been following

2- Tip toe in while investing little in the way of time, money or resources and wondering why your not getting results

3- Do nothing, and conclude the web just isnt right for your business because dramatic change didn’t happen after building a website

We want to help you, but lets set the record straight. Success on-line can be huge, but it takes time, resources, and hard work. Sprinkled with investment and you might have a winning formula. To begin any online strategy it’s important to determine what your potential clients are looking for, where there looking, and how frequently. Don’t make the mistake of assuming you know what your customer is typing into Google to find you …or not find. Getting to page 1 of Google on relevant search terms for your products or services is the key to search engine optimization success. Of course getting to page 1 of Google with an internet marketing strategy for keywords nobody is looking for, is search engine optimization failure.

So, the first step to developing a good strategy is understanding what those relevent search terms are. Once you know that – then you can proceed to create a strategy that lifts you out of the haystack and brings you to the forefront of your potential customers visibility.

Hello everyone, George Gill here from Gill Media.

Thank you for joining me, we’re gonna do a little bit of keyword research information, but where gonna do this in two posts and the reason why is because it’s kind of a legnthly topic, but keyword research is really step one for search engine optimization and it’s what we do in detail for our clients to make sure that when you start to optimize your website that you’re going after words that are going to truly benefit your business and that you have feasibility in getting to page 1 in a reasonable amount of time. Now why is search engine optimization important, we should probably just cover that very quickly. Frankly you know there is this huge myth out there that you build a website and people are just gonna find you, they are just gonna come, they’re just gonna come from all ends of the earth and discover you. And the reality is, that’s not gonna happen, the build it and they will come syndrome is just that it’s a syndrome you are a needle in a haystack amongst millions and millions of websites. So there is strategies that you need to employ that is going to drive the right type of traffic to your website to be found, and by what I mean by the right kind of traffic is traffic that’s looking for what you have to offer. And how do we get that traffic well we start by doing keyword research and understanding the types of words and phrases that are potential leads, buyers, customers are searching in the search engines.

Now there is really two stages that we can look at here. Stage one is you already have a business and you already have a domain name whether or not you have an active website is really immaterial, it is you have a domain name that you want to use.That’s the one type of person that might be looking at this video. The second person is a person who doesn’t have a domain name maybe hasn’t started their business or has but they haven’t registered their domain name and they haven’t gone after their online presence as of yet. So the reason why I make those differentiators is because the domain name can actually benefit your search engine optimization results. So if you’re in a stage where you don’t have a domain name and you don’t have a presence yet don’t run out yet and register a domain name. Start with keyword research and if you already have a domain name and a website well then so be it that’s okay. It’s just were not going to utilize keyword research in your domain choice, but again, your first step is to do your keyword research.

Now critical critical point, this can be a little boring. As far as digging or lifting up the arms, digging in and getting elbow grease going in doing the research, but it can also be a little exciting to see exactly how many people are searching for which you have the offer.
