Are you a YouTube user? Many of us are. Whether it’s for personal use (music, videos, educational, etc), or business use for that matter. There’s a plethora of content on YouTube available for the viewing. All we have to do is search for it.
How is your YouTube channel performing – would you like to increase YouTube views?
YouTube has now reached 1.5 billion logged-in users visiting the site every month. Basically, nearly one out of every two people who use the internet uses YouTube. This is a great opportunity to grow your personal brand, influencer positioning or your business by creating great content people will be interested in.
If you’ve been trying to build your YouTube channel for a while now, we understand that it might be frustrating, putting in your best efforts and getting little to no positive results. However, because of the heavy competition on YouTube, you should be ready to work smarter to make your channel visible to the right audience.
The changes you want will come as a direct result of the changes you make in your effort towards growing your YouTube channel subscribers. This is why you should be sure to put forth the right efforts and allow time for your results to show through.
Here are 11 strategies you can use to increase YouTube views:
1 – Upload Consistency (use a schedule):
Your subscribers should be able to know for sure, the next time they will be getting a video from you.
Uploading consistently shows that you are very involved with your channel. New visitors will be encouraged to stay once they see this. Most viewers do not like following channels they find interesting, but don’t get new videos from them for weeks or months.
Establishing an upload day, e.g. every Tuesday will help to remind viewers that new videos come out, and encourage them to watch for them.
2 – Use a Great Thumbnail:
Those small, clickable images that give a preview of what the video will look like, are major deciding factors on whether your video gets clicked on, or not.
Your thumbnail should be attractive and if possible, contain an image/images from the best scenes in your video. The information people gather by looking at your thumbnail will influence their decision to click on your video, or not.
3 – Use a Call-to-Action (ask your viewers to subscribe):
Even when people enjoy your videos, they don’t always remember to subscribe.
YouTube has a lot of interesting content, and people are always trying to move on to the next thing that catches their eye. You need to ask and/or remind viewers to subscribe.
Ideally, post your CTA (call-to-action) at the beginning and the end of the video, so it’s not missed. A simple CTA is a request to subscribe to your channel if they want to see more videos from you.
4 – Organize Videos into Playlists:
Every new visitor that finds their way to your channel should be able to navigate through it easily and understand what your channel is about. A good way to do this is by creating playlists to group videos according to their type.
You want to appear organized to your visitors while making it easy for them to view the content they are interested in.
5 – Use Keywords to Optimize your Metadata:
How do visitors find videos that interest them? They search using some specific words.
Your video’s title and the keywords included should be able to match those being used by your viewers to search.
A great tip is to run a YouTube search using the keyword you’ve chosen. If there are no results, you might need to rephrase it by thinking like your audience, and using their words. Then research what the top listing videos are using for their metadata.
6 – Run Contests and Giveaways:
People love winning free things. With contests and giveaways, you can reach a wide audience within a short period. The incentives you offer should be things that your target audience will be interested in, but won’t hurt you financially.
A good way to gather prizes is by collaborating with other brands. You can work with a new brand who will also benefit from the attention your campaign will garner. Cross promotion can be a win-win.
7 – Promote Your Videos on Social Media:
The viewers you want on YouTube are on social media too and can be reached using your social media platforms. Video marketing is such a powerful tool.
Fill out your social media profiles and include the types of videos you create e.g. travel vlogs, cooking tutorials, etc. This will make it easier for your target audience to recognize what you are about, follow and watch your videos.
You should also encourage your viewers to share your videos on their own pages using the share buttons provided.
8 – Create a Channel Trailer:
Your YouTube channel’s trailer is a part of your channel’s identity. It’s important to your branding and establishes your uniqueness. Your trailer can form an impression in the mind of viewers to keep them coming back because when people watch something that interests them, it’s a lot harder to forget.
9 – Create videos for current trends
Current trends will last for a while, but creating content people are actively searching for will give you a popularity boost. Doing this will present you with an opportunity to introduce these new viewers to your channel and your other videos.
Be sure to create interesting YouTube videos to mesmerize your audience and to make them understand what you and your company are all about.
10 – Collaborate with other YouTubers
Every YouTuber has their following and can promote a new person to an audience that will be interested in their content. Collaborating with other Youtubers is a great way to promote each other to your audiences and gain new subscribers. You can do this by reaching out to people in the YouTube community. Be sure that they are people who clearly invest well enough in their channel with content and values that align with yours.
All these efforts as noted above, if included in your strategy, will over time have a positive impact on the growth of your YouTube channel and the number of views you get.
You should also monitor your channel using the features in the Creator Dashboard and Analytics to get a clear view of what areas need more focus. Always be measuring your marketing efforts so you know what’s working and what’s not. Measurement is key to the success of any marketing strategy, and YouTube is no exception.
